Mt. Kisko, New York Cell Signal Booster Installation Case Study

May 04, 2018

Curtis Instruments has a manufacturing unit and office in Mt. Kisko, New York. They had a major problem with poor cell phone reception there, which was hampering inter-staff communication. They approached SignalBooster.com to solve the issue.

Curtis Instruments is the world's leading manufacturer of motor speed controllers and instruments for battery-powered vehicles. Curtis is a well-known brand in the industry, known for their timers and counters that measure and record equipment use. They make top-of-the-line all solid-state gauges and other critical products such as high-efficiency DC converters and other accessories for "green" electric vehicles.

The Problem.

Bob Baker runs the Curtis instruments office in Mt. Kisko, New York. The Curtis Instruments office is spread across two buildings. This is a great place to work at, but with one major issue – weak cellular reception.

Bob had been hearing complaints about weak cell phone signals from his staff for years now. This is despite the fact that he had installed a small weBoost Connect 4G-X system many years ago (see all consumer grade weBoost Connect series listed).

He got in touch with us at SignalBooster.com and asked us if there was anything we could do to salvage the situation. During the first inspection, our engineers studied the buildings and their layout.

It was clear that the weBoost Connect 4G-X wasn't powerful enough for the size of the building and its installation was not fully thought through. That had to be replaced.

There were two buildings with very week signal inside. This was because of the concrete and metal construction that came in the way of the cellular signals, blocking them from reaching the cell phones of the staff that were inside the building.

That is why there was a major issue with dropped calls at Curtis and it was virtually impossible to get a consistent 3 to 5-bar signal.

The Solution.

Curtis Instruments chose SignalBooster.com for cell signal solution based on our experience and expertise. We proceeded to install SureCall Force 5 2.0 inside both buildings. Building A needed coverage for 45,000 square feet and Building B for 29,000 square feet.

We installed 9 Internal antennas in Building A and 5 Internal antennas in Building B. SureCall Force 5 2.0 was chosen based on location-specific requirements, acceptable price point, and being a very good alternative to DAS. SureCall is one of the leading manufacturers of cell phone signal boosters for the industry. They provide a 3-year warranty and 5-year extended warranty with this device.

The SureCall Force 5 2.0 was awarded the 2017 Commercial Integrator BEST and 2017 CE Pro BEST awards. It is a smart device meaning it comes with the SureCall's Sentry remote monitoring hardware as well as an integrated remote access for adjusting and optimizing the performance of the device from a smartphone using a mobile app.

This device boosts voice, text and 4G LTE signals for all carriers in United States. It increases the signal strength over 25,000 sq. ft in normal conditions and up to 100,000 sq. ft in perfect conditions. It gives you a downlink power of +17 dBm and solves the problem of dropped calls or missed calls to a large extent.

The Result.

After Installation of the SureCall Force 5 2.0, things have improved significantly at Curtis Instruments. The staff no longer complains about dropped calls. They get a reasonable cell phone signal strength of 3 to 5 bars in both buildings. Bob couldn't be happier about it and says this has made his life a lot easier!

  • I’ve many case studies here and they are interesting. This is the first one though where the user put in a weBoost signal booster system before and it’s no longer working. Usually every product that’s mentioned on this site is treated like it works well in all cases and people never have any problems. Not the case here. This is the kind of transparency I like to see because sometimes these case studies sound too good to be true.

  • Cell phone installation service? That sounds like it’s worth looking into because if I want a cell phone booster put in, I want it to work 100%. A cell phone signal booster is a good idea for any office that uses cell phones on a regular basis. The biggest issue would be finding someone competent who installs cell phone boosters and getting a reasonable price. Not everyone has a big business, but even a small to medium-size office could benefit.

  • Sounds like this business had some serious issues with their cell phone reception. I suppose it’s pretty bad when you have to get an industrial strength cell phone booster to fix your problems. From what this article says, the people in NY didn’t have the best commercial cell phone booster and needed some major assistance. I’d like to know more about cell phone booster installation service because just because I am tired of going to offices where the reception is lousy. Now I can tell business owners and/or managers there are solutions for this problem. No business should have poor cell phone reception as cell phones and mobile devices are essential for both employees and clients visiting the office.

  • Indoor cell phone boosters sound like they’re becoming common in business offices and manufacturing plants. It makes sense to me because you find people using cell phones to communicate when they leave their desk and this reduces the need to have phones everywhere in a factory. People have the option to use their cell phones for interoffice communication AND to talk with clients outside the office or plant. The only thing is that you need a strong signal and sometimes an office or plant will be made of materials that weaken cell phone signals, making for dropped calls or trouble communicating due to lousy reception. If you’re going to use cell phones for communication, it seems like common sense to have a signal booster so the phones work well. For example, they won’t drop calls and you and the person conversing can hear each other well.
