QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
I placed an order to rent a signal meter to align an antennae last week. I received the package on Friday and inside was a brand new unit. I thought this was going to be a loaner that I would be able to return after using it. Am I still able to return this unit after using it?
Sometimes when all rental units are rented out, we ship out a new unit to be used for future rentals. That seems to be the case when we sent you a brand new signal meter unit. Yes, you can still return for refund of your deposit minus the rental cost.

Will this work in canada with rogers?
Absolutely, it can detect Rogers Wireless network signals - in addition to all other mobile service providers in Canada and USA.
-
Can I use this to test the signal on the antenna for a helium miner?
Yes you can, because it covers 900 MHz that Helium network operates on. Thank you.
-
The description of the RF Signal Meter states that its impedance is 50 ohm. I have a 75 ohm cellular antenna. Does it come with adapters to allow the meter to connect to my 75 ohm cable?
Yes, it includes adapter needed to use 75 Ohm cable, in addition to 50 Ohm cable.

Looking for a signal strength tester for 3G AT&T & 3G Verizon service.
This reference signal meter should suffice for your AT&T 3G and Verizon 3G RF signal testing need (as well as for their 4G and LTE networks).

I am looking at buying or renting your RF signal meter. However it says the five bands are 700, 800, 1900, 2100 MHz (LTE, Cellular, PCS and AWS). I need to find one for T-Mobile frequency of 600Mhz. Can you tell me if this unit can find the 600 band? If I put the setting on the 700 band will it still find the 600 numbers?
Very sorry, this signal meter will not detect the frequency signal you need to find. One that would do that is our 5G signal meter which can detect those TMO 600 MHz frequency signals.

You have a lot of great information on your site that I am finding very helpful in determining my requirements. In my rural area, 4G LTE very sporadic. Mainly 3G/HSPA+ (-90 to -100 Db outside). My question is, what minimum signal strength (Db) do I need to achieve to have a stable voice connection? Data transfer speed is not a priority.
How well can you use your voice service with those signal levels? We would consider those to be some good numbers. We usually recommend using a Yagi antenna with our boosters for weak signal areas. Our boosters are more like repeaters in that they take signal outside, enhances it, then rebroadcasts that inside.
Up to -110dB (3G) and up to -120dB (4G/LTE) is required for both voice & data transmissions.
If that is what you have (or better) outside where you can mount exterior antenna, then you will be able to achieve that or better signal strength inside near interior antenna of a cell signal booster kit.
If you tested signal strength in decibels on your smartphone, that carrier providing service on that phone will get that boosted signal.
If you need to test signal power of multiple carriers, you will need an active SIM for the respective carrier(s) to check.
If you need to test signal strength of multiple carriers, and you do not have an active SIM for respective carriers to check, you will need a signal meter. -
Will it detect/measure US Cellular? Did not see it on the list.
Yes, U.S. Cellular uses frequency bands 2, 4, 5, and 12. These bands are for PCS, AWS, CELL, and LTE-A. This signal meter will be able to measure these frequency bands for US Cellular.

Interested in renting the cell signal meter. Is it available for rental this week?
Yes, we almost always have them available unless the button is intentionally grayed-out and you cannot order at the website.

Can this device survey LTE-CAT-M1 bands and identify the carrier?
It can, but it is unclear whether LTE-CAT-M1 will use only the 700-MHz spectrum on bands 12/13 or if it will also use something else like AWS band 4. The meter will gather readings for bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, and 25. Currently the only carriers identified for LTE is AT&T Wireless and Verizon Wireless.

Warning
Note: For any signal booster to help, outside signal strength must be at least -110 dB or there must be a clear line of sight to a cell tower that is within twenty miles. Before ordering, please check outside signal level in decibels or ensure that you can make and hold a phone call at any good spot outside where you can mount an exterior antenna. Square footage stated in signal booster listings is based on good signal outside. If it is any weaker, the boosted sq. ft. area will be considerably lower, accordingly.
Kevin K. of Anderson, California gave the following review:
Website is easy to use with plain straight forward info but could have had more on testing signal strength to make sure you get a strong enough booster.
Therefore, please note that stated sq. ft. coverage is based on good signal outside. For best results: If outside signal is weak, we suggest choosing the next higher sq. ft. coverage kit. If outside signal is very weak, we suggest choosing the kit with even more higher sq. ft. range bracket. Basically, higher the sq. ft. bracket, the more powerful the signal amplifier with greater Gain as well as higher uplink and downlink output power.
If outside signal is too weak (weaker than -110 dB), submit request for cell coverage solution assessment. Upon receipt of questionnaire, we will perform residential or business site survey. This will help us determine the system that is needed to improve cell coverage. Then, we will create system design using that system such as femtocell, active or hybrid distributed antenna system (DAS), or other carrier feed signal enhancing method available that will work at your signal-challenged location. Finally, we will schedule for installation after equipment and installation service quote has been approved by you, or your company.
For non installation-included kits: Most home / office / building cell signal booster kits only include bracket to mount exterior antenna on outside wall, edge of roof, or existing pipe up to 2 inches in diameter. Mounting pole not included with most kits, unless stated specifically that it is included for free. Therefore, a mounting post must be purchased separately if you will require it to mount exterior antenna.
