Canadian Mobile Phone Companies, their Subsidiaries & MVNOs
Canadian mobile phone companies or carriers have subsidiaries and have mobile virtual network operators (MVNO).
A subsidiary is basically a brand that the respective mobile phone company owns. These mainly sell same service with a flair or niche benefit to differentiate itself from the main streamline Carrier that is the parent company. The cost of services is generally lower than the parent company brand for competitiveness in the marketplace, and the quality of wireless service may be a bit lower than the premium Carrier or the parent company that owns the mobile network.
A mobile virtual Network operator (MVNO) is a different company altogether that resells services from mobile phone company or carrier that actually owns and maintains the respective mobile network. A MVNO is an independent business that bills their own customers and provides customer service under their own brand name, and pays wholesale rates to the Carrier that they buy mobile network services from. The quality of wireless service may be a bit lower than the premium Carrier or the parent company that owns the mobile network.
