National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Brief Overview

Established in 1896, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is on a mission to reduce loss and save lives with information, passion, and knowledge. As a global, non-profit organization, an aim of the NFPA is to eliminate death, injury, economic and property loss because of fire; including electrical and other related hazards. Widely regarded as a codes and standards organization, the NFPA delivers knowledge and information by not only partnering with others who share their interest, but also via 300 consensus standards and codes, training, research, advocacy and outreach, and education. The NFPA's codes and standards are specifically designed to minimize the effects and risk of fire by promoting the criteria for design, processing, building, service, and installation around the globe.
