The smallest of all the states in America, Rhode Island is only 1,214 square miles (48 miles by 37 miles). Rhode Island is also the last of the 13 original colonies to become a state. The majority of the state’s area mass is bordered by Massachusetts and Connecticut. However, a large portion of the south and eastern boarder of the state is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, specifically called the Rhode Island Sound. What makes Rhode Island interesting is that although the state is labeled as an island, only about 14% of the state is bays, islands, or inlets. But with the islands and the coastline of the state, it is understandable why Rhode Island has been deemed “The Ocean State.”
Due to the incredibly small size of the state, it is understandable that the population is rather dense. As a whole, the state is urban. While there may be areas which have 100 people per square mile, the majority of the state houses 1000 or more with the key areas being around Providence. It is because of this density that individuals (both residence and business) may experience issues with cell phone and internet coverage.
There is a misconception that only rural areas suffer from poor reception and networking. Granted, we do acknowledge that tunnels and certain areas are bad for cell phone use, but it is common to overlook other issues which can play a part. The denser an area is, the more apt the frequencies are to have issues. Additionally, the more man-made structures in an area, the more apt that area will be to having blockage of signals and problems with receptions.
To maximize the functionality of cell phones and internet, a cell phone or an internet booster should be installed. Using such can increase the bars on your device, decrease upload and download times, increase the range of use, and decrease the number of dropped calls.
