What is Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS)?

Most American carriers have announced and launched 5G networks. In most cases, 5G services operating today are broadcast over existing 4G frequencies. Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) is emerging as a key part of mobile carrier's 5G strategy. It allows operators to use the same spectrum bands for different radio access technologies. Today, carriers are utilizing dynamic 4G / 5G DSS in the traditional cellular bands. The re-use of existing valuable spectrum is quite common, like the original 850 MHz Cellular (Band 5) has been used for G1 / G2 / G3 / G4 (HSPA+) & G4 (LTE).
